Superbowl XLIII
Feb 1, 2009 Blog General
Hello Superbowl Sunday!
First some predictions: Pittsburgh over Arizona, 31 to 14. Although I want Arizona to win (as long as the media promises not to do any more Kurt Warner “cinderella” stories), I’m pretty neutral this year. I’m also a Ben Roethlisberger fan and my buddy is a HUGE Steelers fan (ironic that he lives in Arizona, huh?).
How I’m Spending My Superbowl Sunday:
Today is the my first Superbowl on the East Coast. It kinda sucks because I’m awake, ready to go, and its still 8 hours away! My snack bar is ready for the hot wings and Bawls Geek Beer (yee haw!). My TV is already on “warming up”. And I’m bored. At least on the west coast I’d be in the middle of pre-game shows when I woke up. So today I’m doing my own pre-game show with my son (and daughter and wife if they’ll have me).
We started with bowls of Touchdown Crunch. Not the Miami Dolphins Official Breakfast (which I never saw once here in South Florida), but the Cap’n Crunch kind:

Next we’re playing a good set of Rock Band. It would be appropriate to play Bruce Springsteen since he’s doing the half-time show, but his music is only on Guitar Hero. Heart would have been cool too, but they too are on Guitar Hero. So we’re settling by playing Dierks Bentley on Rock Band, at least he’s from Phoenix. I don’t know if any of the other RB artists are from Pittsburgh or Arizona, if there are any I’ll add them to our small playlist.
Finally, after Rock Band for an hour or two, we’ll head out side and kick the other “football” around (meaning soccer). He loves soccer, and he hasn’t learned how to throw the “american football” yet, so this is a way we can spend some time together.
By this time we’ll be able to turn on the TV for some pre-game shows. Hopefully we’ll see some coverage of the WhiteHouse Superbowl Bash. I wonder if they’re eating Cap’n Crunch too.
