I just realized I’m starting to enter that apathy slump again, so I figured I would warn you ahead of time.
This one took me two months to get to. I think that is a record. Or perhaps I’m not really going into a slump, but today is just a walk around in underwear, so you need to close the blinds to not scare off the neighbors and because the blinds are closed not letting the sun in you are depressed type of day. I’m not sure. But I’m not in a real blogging mood, that’s for sure.
I just got back from vacation. Ended earlier than I had hoped. But I was all vacationed out. I’m a net junkie and was disconnected way too long. If I had all the things accomplished (impossible!) on my task list before I left, I may have been able to brush off my neeeeeed-to-net itch. But since my task list was bigger than my Let’s Go Camping shopping list, I’m back now. That and I really missed myspace. Oh, and Street Fighter II was just released on Xbox Live Arcade. Everyone knows I LOVE Live Arcade!
Sucky part was that while I was racing home from the mountains at 85 miles an hour (to play Street Fighter yo!), I had a close encounter. About 5 miles south of Cedar City, Utah, at about 5:30 in the morning, a deer played chicken with me and lost. I saw them about 30 yards ahead of me (there were two deer) slammed on the brakes and tried to swerve. One of the deer spotted me coming and jumped from the far lane into the lane I was in. It was like it knew it was in danger so it aborted the road crossing and tried to get back to the same side of the street it started from. The corner of my SUV clipped that deer in the hind quarter. I watched the deer roll a few times in my rear view mirror. Thought for sure I killed the thing. When I pulled over, to check things out, it was gone. Somehow it survived. Couldn’t say the same about my car. The whole front corner of the fender, the headlight assembly, and the front panel on the drivers side will need to be replaced. The panel was pushed back and I can only open the door about 1/4 of the way, so that may need to go too.
I’ve been in auto wrecks before, and everyone has been able to walk away. But this was different. As I watched my car make impact with the deer, everything went in slow motion. My wife and son were asleep in the car, and all I could think about was them and their safety. I was worried that the deer could roll over the hood and up into the windshield. Yeah we hit a deer, but to only hit the backend like that and be able to drive away was nothing short of a miracle. No one was injured.
So this whole apathy thing may not be so apathetic. Perhaps I’m just trying to discover priorities. I’ve been pretty shaken up by hitting that deer. Hoping (and talking myself into this) that in a day or two it will be out of my system and I’ll be back to myself. If not, I’ll just force myself to blog again.
In meantime, I hope this post about apathy, vacations, camping, net addiction, myspace, video games, deers, and car wrecks will do an adequete job of confusing the hell out of the Google Adsense crawler and it won’t know what ads to serve. It will probably just serve “blogging” related ads. I love it when that happens.
