Infinity Climber
Jul 29, 2004 Unordered Miscellany

Every day I run across something that makes me say “Why didn’t they have those when I was a kid?” The Infinity Climber by Little Tikes Commercial Playground Systems is one of those things. Luckily, my son (when of the appropriate age of 5 to 12 years old) will be able to spend countless hours on this climber, taking him to an unlimited places that a child’s unlimited imagination will allow.

Death Star Found Orbitting Off Saturn
Jul 28, 2004 Science or Mad Science
Run you little Earthlings! Nasa’s little Cassini spacecraft took this picture of one of Saturn’s moons that looks strangely familiar. Perhaps all those Star Wars freaks that thought the movies were based on true stories in a “Galaxy Far Far Away” were on to something. Darth Vader has his cross-hairs on Earth!
Then again, the crater could just be an imprint after a asteroid/meteorite/space junk collision. But that would be boring. [Thanks Engadget!]
Layton, Utah, Watch Out! The Murphy’s Are Coming For a Visit.
Jul 27, 2004 Blog General

Thought I better put in ample warning to the residents of the normally quiet town of Layton, Utah, that we’re coming to stir things up a little. On August 14th, my brother Brock, is getting married to his high-school sweetheart Stephanie. So, my.wife, my.toddler, and my.self decided to make a vacation out of it. We’re taking off the first weekend of August and we’ll stick around until we get kicked out by the natives.
Actually, we’re very excited. It’s been a couple years since I’ve seen my brothers and sisters. It’s been longer since I’ve seen friends and other family members. I did get a nice visit with my dad last month when he came to Kansas City for a few days on business. Other than that, I’ve been pretty isolated from my bloodlines. I just can’t wait to see everyone!
We have a Volkswagen Passat that will be taking us on the trip across the Rockies. Right now, it’s in the shop (it’s favorite place to be) with a bruised tranny. With a little luck, we’ll have it out tomorrow and we can start prepping for the voyage.
I know, this is not the normal post from me. I usually have biased posts about d0rky stuff like tech, gadgets, bizniz, marketing, cars, and stuff. But every once and a while, something preoccupies my mind that I can’t help but share. I grew up and was raised in Layton. Went to Layton High School. Actually graduated too. It’s going to be very refreshing to get back to town and see my familiar places and familiar faces.
