EV1 regrets SCO deal

Interesting post and comments that were posted today on slashdot.org. Apparently the CEO of EV1Servers.net regrets a contract deal with the litigious SCO corporation.

“We got the hate mail, we got the group of people who interpreted our agreement as validating SCO or endorsing SCO or any number of things,” said [EV1Servers.net's CEO Robert] Marsh.

“All of a sudden we went from being reasonably good guys to being, in some people’s eyes, akin to the devil. And that’s certainly something that weighs heavy on our minds, because we always want to do the right thing,” he said.

So how does Marsh feel about the deal nearly a month later? “Would I do it again?

No.

I’ll go on the record as saying that,” Marsh said. “I certainly know a lot more today than I knew a month ago, in a lot of respects.”

While it’s good to admit to your mistakes Robert, this is too little too late. A late “um, I’m so sorry guys, can we be friends again?” seems half-assed and doesn’t cut it. If you truly regret this business decision, some action needs to take place to resolve it and the contract needs to be broken, retracted, dissolved, or whatever EV1 can do to wriggle it’s way out of SCOs “I won’t sue you…I promise” contract.

I’ve already migrated my server away from EV1Servers.net and I won’t be going back.
